Love Thy Neighbor
WE ARE CONNECTED to each other as Jews, to our secular communities and to the world. We strive to make an impact through engagement. We take action. We welcome the stranger. Temple Habonim is a community of communities — a colorful, human tapestry connected by shared values and experiences. We reserve an empty chair in our sanctuary for new immigrants, and we form a human chain after Yom Kippur to stock the shelves of the TAP-IN food pantry. We are many, acting as one, with a noble purpose: to help bring common ground, unity and peace to the world.
WE OFFER A WIDE VARIETY of programs, activities and opportunities to build community. We encourage and rely upon active participation from our members and know that there is no better way to feel involved than to be involved.
Our film and guest speaker series offer thought-provoking opportunities to expand minds. Our teens strengthen their Jewish identities as members of BCTY, our Temple Youth Group. Our Caring Committee offers assistance to our members at times when support is needed. Our Social Action committee members lead our practice of tikkun olam, bettering our world. These are just some of the ways our members are involved at Temple Habonim.
WAYS TO VOLUNTEER INCLUDE:
Helping out with occasional administrative tasks
Serving as a greeter for programs and religious services
Sponsoring an oneg in memory of a loved one’s Yahrzeit, or in honor of a simcha
Arriving early to, and/or staying after, events and programs to help with setup and clean up

You can also get involved by joining one of our committees. Members looking to step into a leadership role often find committee participation a purposeful first step towards serving on our Board.

CARING: Volunteer to help our members in need of assistance, such as preparing meals, providing companionship or arranging transportation

FUNDRAISING: We rely on the generosity of our congregants and plan regular creative and fun events to both build community and generate donations
