7:00PM – Selichot Social, Film, Discussion, Havdalah & Selichot Service
Selichot (forgiveness) is celebrated the Sat night before Rosh HaShanah. We gather together as a community to prepare our souls for the serious introspection required of us as we enter the Days of Awe. This year we will mark Selichot with a film & discussion, and a short Havdalah and Selichot service. Jodi Blankstein will lead us in song.
This year?s film, Crimes and Misdemeanors, is an American classic written, direct-
ed by and co-starring Woody Allen. The film serves as a great springboard for
discussion about the themes of the High Holy Days … deep introspection, what we
choose to be our guiding forces in life, how we forgive others and ourselves, how we are able to return and start anew. Join us for this meaningful start to the High Holy Day season.

High Holy Day Hunger Project
Once again this year Temple Habonim will be participating in the High Holy Day Hunger Project, a nationwide effort by Reform congregations to collect food for local food banks. Please pickup a bag in the hallway on Rosh Hashanah and return it full of non-perishable canned goods on Yom Kippur. With the help of the Mitzvah Team and all other congregants who want to help, the food will be delivered after sundown (approximately 7:30) on Yom Kippur, Sat Sept 18th.
Begin the New Year with the mitzvah of helping those less fortunate in our area. Make your fast a true sacrifice by donating at least the equivalent amount of food that your family would have eaten on Yom Kippur to this effort. Please consider a contribution to Mazon, a Jewish organization dedicated to fighting world hunger, as well.
