Hungry to do good deeds - Our Tap-In Mitzvah - 5770
Photos by David Sheinberg
Food was donated by congregants at the Yom Kippur services at Temple Habonim. It was loaded onto Harold Foster's truck by volunteers during the day and delivered in the evening to Tap-In.
The 7th grade class at Temple Habonim gathered there on Monday night after break the fast.
We had a group of 45 enthusiastic students and parents work as a team to form a "bucket brigade" to pass and carry over 180 grocery bags literally bursting with food into the food pantry. Once in the pantry, the students unpacked, sorted and stocked the food onto the shelves.
The volunteers who met us at Tap-In said this would be enough food for two whole weeks!
It was a wonderful and eye opening experience which we plan on doing again.
