They clapped. They sang. They danced. In circles and concentrinc circles and in lines that snaked in and out of the sanctuary. Fishel Bresler, with his Klezmer band, played exciting music for an intergenerational audience of 130 members and friends of the Rennaissance Group at Temple Habonim on a recent Sunday afternoon.
Fishel, on mandolin, clarinet and flute; Selly Katsch, MSW, on keyboard and accordian; and Eric Rosenthal, of the Boston group Shirim, on percussion, played music strongly influenced by the countries of Eastern Europe, including Rumania, Hungary, Russia, and also Turkey. They also presented tunes by Fishel himself and the New York Boston Rebbe. Most Songs fit into Jewish Holiday and life cycle events. And all were introduced with pertinent and sometimes humerous commentary.
