Bat Mitzvah Project - Hayley McKenna Fulton, Seventh Grade
In the spirit of Tikkun Olam, Eli has chosen to raise money for the American Cancer Society by organizing a team for a Relay for Life event on June 5. Our family and a group of friends ("The Blobby Buddies") will take turns walking all night at Pierce Memorial Field in East Providence, along with other members of our congregation and community, in support of cancer funding and research. One of our team members is an ovarian cancer survivor, and we are proud to walk in her honor-and in honor of all of those who have fought this terrible disease. Any donations, large or small, would be very much appreciated (please see Margie for information). To celebrate this special event in Eli's life, we are planning a family trip this summer, just a few days after the service. We will then take a few deep breaths until his sister Naomi's celebration in 2012! Dear Congregants, My name is Seth Chitwood. I am a congregant of Temple Habonim. On March 21 st , 2009, I performed a one-man show called One Bay, One Voice . The show was performed at the Philharmonic Music School in East Providence. The show was for my Senior Project at the Barrington High School. Now, back on demand, I am doing another show called Same Bay, Same Voice at Temple Habonim, Saturday, June 27 th at 7:00pm. I will be performing 14 songs and talking about how they relate to my teen years and life of music and performing. Tickets are $5 for students, $10 for adults. All of the money raised will be donated to Save the Bay. The show's running time is 1 hour and 45 minutes, with a 15 minute intermission. Some songs include; "My Friends" from Sweeney Todd , "Here I Am", from Dirty Rotten Scoundrels , "God Help The Outcasts" from The Hunchback of Notre Dame , "No One Is Alone" from Into the Woods , and much much more. Other performers include Barrington High School Freshman Melanie Chitwood (performer), Esther Zabinski (accompanist), Emily Brandenburg (violinist), Barrington High School Senior Brittany KatharineLeonard (performer), University of Hartford (Hartt School) Freshman MaayanHarel (performer), and Classical High School Senior Michelle Migliori (bass). On June 20, Eli Zeltzer will become a Bar Mitzvah in the presence of his family and close friends. When he is not studying his Torah portion (!), Eli enjoys football, fencing, hanging with friends, and teaching himself piano. He is looking forward to the end of seventh grade at Barrington Middle School.
